Milena Mazarak

Milena Mazarak was born on November 12, 1995 in Bačka Topola, and lives in Belgrade. She finished "Svetozar Miletić" Grammar School in Srbobran in 2014. She graduated from undergraduate academic studies of art history at Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, on September 24, 2018, under the mentorship of Prof. Saša Brajović, Ph.D., with a thesis on "Altar Paintings of Tripo Kokolja." On September 17, 2019, she defended her master's thesis "Late Baroque Venetian Painting and Altar Painting of Antonio Arrigoni in Kotor" within master academic studies of art history at Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade under the mentorship of Prof. Saša Brajović, Ph.D. In October 2019, she enrolled in doctoral studies of art history at Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, and is currently in her third year of studies. In October 2017, she participated in the seminar of the Associate Club of the National Museum in Belgrade. Furthermore, she volunteered in the organization of the opening of the National Museum in Belgrade in June 2018, where she also held expert guided tours through the "Bernini and the Roman Baroque: Masterpieces from Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia" exhibition in the period from March 7, 2019, to May 26, 2019.

During her undergraduate and master studies, she took part in the "New Architecture of Belgrade" internship program. The topic of her doctoral dissertation currently under research is "Tenebrism in Venetian Baroque Painting", mentored by Prof. Saša Brajović, Ph.D. In 2022 she received the grant from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italian Republic for study research stay in Italy, under the guidance of Prof. Giorgio Fossaluzza, Ph. D. at the University of Verona (Università degli studi di Verona, Dipartimento Culture e Civiltà). Her main research has been conducted in Venice with purpose of more precisely defining topic of her Ph. D., and she also participated in the University activities held in Vicenza and Cremona, under the initiative of Prof. Giorgio Fossaluzza, Ph. D. She participated on the topic “Fear of Death and Witchcraft in Italian Baroque Painting” in an International Scientific Conference “Literature questions in the Age of Trans- and Post- Humanism” organized by the Institute for Literature and Arts in Belgrade, held on May 4-6, 2022. Languages: English, French and Italian. Since March 2020, she has been regularly attending the standard Italian language course at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Belgrade.
